
Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Dr. Balmaceda is a scholar-practitioner whose work focuses on education and civic leadership development for justice, peace, and reconciliation. Nina is a missional strategist at the Center for Reconciliation and associate professor of the practice of reconciliation at Duke University’s Divinity School. She is the President of Peace and Hope International (PHI), a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and confronting violence and other forms of injustice, working through its sister organizations in Latin America alongside individuals, families and communities in poverty, so that they can live with dignity. Nina and her family live in Durham, North Carolina.
